ALMOST A YEAR

since last post. it will be a year in 3 months....what does it mean?  ha.
Some developments this year: bees, Buddy! the BT, loss, a slow ascendance from politically-centric blues,  and going VEGAN! Im gonna do it. Plant based.

1/04/2019

WELCOME TO JANUARY. It's already the 4th day of 2019. I'm welcoming my self to this new year, looking up and making better decisions about how to think about the future before me, which I am both concerned about, and also embracing hope. My first read this year was Anne Lamott's ALMOST EVERYTHING. It gave me a boost, and maybe you would love it.

the next chapter

I FEEL IT coming. Sea change. The winter is on its way, and i don't know if i'm prepared for the cold yet, but I've got some options to make it go as smoothly as possible. Lots to create. At least I have the sun here in wenatchee. Hope to make the winter VERY BUSY and productive art-wise. One day at a time right now. Next spring, new bee housing and this clover lawn.

so much change

ALRIGHTY. 2 YEARS AGO life was sortof normal. i could concentrate on the things and people i love, and more or less enjoy everyday. Then a bunch of psychotic monsters took over our country and currently are holding it hostage, even while plans are underway to take them down.
I lost my Dozey. Then i lost my Ophee. Then i lost my dear friend Jeanetty. My son's father and a good friend is in peril with cancer. Its been one thing after another this year. So this is my very brief, incomplete catch up post. So much happened it would take reams to write it. I'm getting rid of facebook cuz its horrible, and even thinking how i can go without a stupid smartphone, which may be difficult. But I'm going to move forward from here, and pay very close attention to what's important. I will use the time given me to focus more clearly on my passions, which are equally dogs, art and bees. Funny. Maybe i knew my life would net out on beekeeping because its a way to give a shit about the planet. I may pursue a more solitary life now with these things. It's better than shaking my fist at injustices all the time. Its been horrid. Not the America I grew up in.

new garden pix

I HAVE FOUND a wonderful  gardener and friend, Serafin, who has made my garden beautiful by helping me with all the hard stuff.  Continuing to encroach on the lawn with plants and shrubbery.  :D

o dear. haw.

SO ALMOST 4 months late again. nevermind. yikes.
i have some great pix coming, and this is not one of them.
Although penisetum 'hameln" is growing here now,  out by the mailbox. So pix of my nutty japanese maple and other stuff that is experiencing springtime. :B

finally christmas

AND I GOT MY blue spruce all dressed up with lights. i need another string, but it's so nice to see it lit up out there, on the corner. :B so probably not taking them off, even tho it's January.

three month hiatus

I'M NOT TIMELY with blogging. Understatement. I get into a different groove and am suddenly without stories, and yet I'm gardening 10 mos of the year, so 'doh!'  :D  I guess this is a journal now, more than a blog. All the more reason to be timely. Bizarre heat this late june /early july. 100s+ for about 3 wks --in late june. hmmm. Apologies to anyone listening and enjoy summer.

cluster of cannas

OR, MY CANNA cans, i call them, cuz they are not hardy here. so they all overwinter in their pots in the foundry. I moved them from their former spot so i could plant something else there. Thought it was sorta funny to plop them all in the drive.  ;B  I'm a garden nerd.

frequent visitor

FOR A MONTH or so, Yellow Monarch has been visiting. Not sure if they migrate like the orange ones who all cluster together, or are part of them. Lovely. and like so many things, endangered...from habitat loss.

GOOD MORNING! haw. anyway -- morning for this year...just finished with some much needed rain. everything is rebooting. some pix today.  Terre from roost™ will visit me soon and help me get all of my garden projects done or started.  :B  Cuz my twinny is now a Certified Landscape Professional.  yay!

fall is here

first day of autumn! almost my fave time of year.  here are flowers i grew and sold at the Taste of Harvest last week.

9/15/2014

goings on!

some exciting stuff going on....
I'm doing a soft opening this weekend at the Taste of the Harvest downtown,
and will be selling a few of my florage® stems and flowers! If you're in the hood, come to the Flicker Farms booth and i will be hanging on their corner.  :D  More on
florage soon.  It's a growing concern, (boo) -- I probably need to grow 3x more flowers
this coming spring. Though the season is ending, I hope to have interesting stems and pix to share,
and also, look for the new florage blog in the next very few weeks.
BEE BOOK will always be about my gardens on the farmlet. But many things I grow here will be incorporated into florage designs. OK. ... an update on the new blog soon!
Happy September,
lore

last of hollyhox

MY LOVELY HOLLIES.  One of the only old fashioned flowers ilike.  BUT BLACK ONLY. If i see a pale yellow or sick pink, it's OUTTA HERE.   :B

my farmed flowers

IN EAST WENATCHEE, there are some wonderful folks with big land, who encourage growers to use it. Flicker Farm, the big vegetable market garden on the hillside, is the growing concern of my pals ken & yvette davis.  Which is how I discovered the Baguleys, and their generous experiment.  I have a little plot right below the Flicker dill patch. So I am starting florage™ this year, with the hope of going to market and florists all summer next year with foliage, flowers, stems and all kinds of stems useful to local florists who want local flowers.

Zinnias, gomphrena puffs, sunflower.
Gomphrena
Allium drumsticks, dried
simple and summery in an olive oil can.

more july blooms

EVEN IN THE hot temps... the little stargazer lily surprised me, and i almost missed it behind the big cannas.

"little" Sem

Sorbaria 'Sem.' supposed to be tamer than the species. The early spring growth has those orangey tips. really nice.
