goings on!

some exciting stuff going on....
I'm doing a soft opening this weekend at the Taste of the Harvest downtown,
and will be selling a few of my florage® stems and flowers! If you're in the hood, come to the Flicker Farms booth and i will be hanging on their corner.  :D  More on
florage soon.  It's a growing concern, (boo) -- I probably need to grow 3x more flowers
this coming spring. Though the season is ending, I hope to have interesting stems and pix to share,
and also, look for the new florage blog in the next very few weeks.
BEE BOOK will always be about my gardens on the farmlet. But many things I grow here will be incorporated into florage designs. OK. ... an update on the new blog soon!
Happy September,
lore

my farmed flowers

IN EAST WENATCHEE, there are some wonderful folks with big land, who encourage growers to use it. Flicker Farm, the big vegetable market garden on the hillside, is the growing concern of my pals ken & yvette davis.  Which is how I discovered the Baguleys, and their generous experiment.  I have a little plot right below the Flicker dill patch. So I am starting florage™ this year, with the hope of going to market and florists all summer next year with foliage, flowers, stems and all kinds of stems useful to local florists who want local flowers.

Zinnias, gomphrena puffs, sunflower.
Gomphrena
Allium drumsticks, dried
simple and summery in an olive oil can.

more july blooms

EVEN IN THE hot temps... the little stargazer lily surprised me, and i almost missed it behind the big cannas.

"little" Sem

Sorbaria 'Sem.' supposed to be tamer than the species. The early spring growth has those orangey tips. really nice.

by the way

The shrub below-- if you can call it that--  is sorbaria "sem" and is supposed to be more mannerly than the species. Still, quite a piggy.

it's summer!

i know. i suck. haw...
nevertheless...a post for good weather. Here are plants in bloom! My trees are huge--everything is bursting. It's nice, but also, lotta work. Campsis radicans, " Madame Galen" is starting to smother the 'turret" and all the lilies and hollyhox etc are 9 ft tall.  The trees are going to swallow me up.  I got a new acer palmatum, "Burgundy Lace"  --it's going strong. I dislike the name, and so ignored it. But it's one of the most gorgeous maples with it's copper / green / bronze. Happy i gave it a try.
